Kitchen Aid Customer Service

I had the luck of purchasing a Kitchen Aid stand mixer (Artisan Series, white) for my home kitchen use. I picked it up on sale from a local department store during a holiday sale and was absolutely thrilled. My mother has been using her kitchen aid stand mixer for about twenty years, and has never had a problem with it, despite the fact that she probably uses it to make double batches of cookies and cake mixes anywhere from twice to as many as thirty times a week! (We used to have a home-based bakery business, the cornerstone of which was this vintage mixer.) So, I was excited to get to work with my own mixer. It was perfect, and I had used it several times before I had an incident. I was in the middle of mixing a batch of quick bread batter when it happened. The mixer was running, and I was reading over my recipe, when the bowl suddenly flipped up off the lock and the beater jammed against the side of the bowl. Immediately I shut it off, but it was too late. I don't know the particulars of what happened, all I know is that the thing was fried. It wouldn't move. I took the bowl off and tried frantically to get the beater to spin, but to no avail. So, I got online and looked up the website and sent Kitchen Aid an email. I figured I was going to be out a couple hundred dollars, since... well, we all know how these things work. Within two hours, I had a phonecall back from a wonderful representative at Kitchen Aid. She took some information from me, and advised that they were sending me a brand new mixer via UPS. Sure enough, three days later I had my new mixer, along with the instructions for packing my old one up and sending it back. They paid for the shipping and the whole bit. They never questioned me as to how the incident happened, never insinuated that I might have misused the mixer (which is what I had anticipated) or anything. They were terrific, and I can't tell enough people how great the company is. So their customer service, combined with the fact that I know my mom's mixer has been virtually indestructable for twenty years, make me confident in recommending ANY appliance from Kitchen Aid. When you see Emeril using their appliances on his TV show... now you know why! This is one company that truly rises above!
